Cold-chain shipping for research peptides
Peptides are more fragile than the small molecules most labs order without a second thought. Heat, light, and moisture degrade them, and a compound that spends three summer days in a mailbox may not match its Certificate of Analysis by the time it reaches the bench. Cold-chain shipping closes that gap. Here is how Veristas handles it and what to do on your end.
Why temperature matters in transit
A lyophilized peptide in a sealed vial is stable enough that compounds ship dry rather than in solution. Even so, sustained heat speeds degradation, and any moisture that reaches the powder starts breaking chains. The goal in transit is simple: keep the vial cool, dry, and dark until it is in your hands.
How Veristas packs a shipment
Every order leaves our US fulfillment center in an insulated mailer with phase-change cold packs, not loose ice. Phase-change packs hold a target temperature range longer than water ice and avoid the meltwater that threatens a dry powder. Vials are cushioned against breakage, and each shipment is tracked from dispatch.
We hold a same-day dispatch cut-off on business days so packages spend the weekend in your freezer, not in a distribution center. Orders that miss the cut-off, or land on a weekend or holiday, go out the next business day.
What to do when it arrives
Move fast on receipt:
- Open the package and check the vials against the packing list.
- Inspect for damage, and photograph anything that arrived cracked, unsealed, or warm.
- Move sealed vials to storage. Most research peptides keep best at -20 C, protected from light; product-specific guidance ships with every order.
If a vial arrives damaged or warm, email support within 48 hours with photos and we replace it. That policy sits on our shipping and returns page.
Storage is a chain, not a step
Cold-chain does not end at delivery. A peptide shipped cold and then left on a warm bench loses the protection the packaging bought. Store it correctly on arrival, reconstitute it with the right solvent (see the reconstitution guide), and keep reconstituted stock cold and dark.
